On September 9 and 10, the II Congress ‘Sustainable Cross-Border Cities’ took place, where the opportunities offered by the Autonomous City of Ceuta in terms of sustainable development and the circular economy were analyzed.
The inauguration was attended by representatives of Bet on Ceuta, one of the main sponsors of the event, as well as speakers from BPW, important businessmen, local authorities and the president of the Chamber of Commerce, among others.
This congress was born “with the aim of analyzing, from the perspective of a border city like Ceuta, the economic and social approach within a sustainable city environment”. The first edition was already held in 2020, and this year it returned with the main objective of promoting sisterhood, solidarity and professional empowerment, in a hybrid format: face-to-face and via streaming.
During the event, the main challenges of Ceuta due to its status as a cross-border city were analyzed. The General Director of Planning and Economic Development of the Government of Aragon stressed that the challenges are, “mainly supporting their economic sectors, taking advantage of all their resources and most importantly, generating and retaining talent, because it is key to the development of Cities. ”.
The gaming sector and the new operators that have settled in the city in recent years have played an important role in this regard. Since its creation, Bet on Ceuta has been supporting local hiring and training for Ceutans so that they can access and develop in a booming sector, which offers innumerable job opportunities and the possibility of personal and professional growth for young people who join the same.
